Careers at American AI — Build AI that matters

We're hiring engineers, designers, and operators to ship production AI for the institutions Americans rely on every day. Small team. Big problems. No bullshit.

Why work here

  • Real problems, real impact — We don't ship demos. Every line of code we write hits production at Fortune 500s, federal agencies, or school districts inside of weeks.
  • AI-native, by default — We use the best models, the best tools, and we build with them every day. You'll get sharper here than at companies still debating whether AI is a fad.
  • Mission that matters — Government, education, healthcare, defense — the work we do strengthens the institutions Americans rely on. Pride in your output, not just paychecks.
  • Top 0.1% teammates — Small teams of engineers, designers, and operators who've shipped at scale. No ladder politics, no Jira theater — just accountability and craft.
  • Ownership from day one — You'll own features, customers, and outcomes — not tickets. Senior engineers talk to clients. Junior engineers ship to production their first week.
  • Remote-first, hub-friendly — Distributed across the U.S. with optional hubs. Async by default. We hire the best person for the role, not the closest one to an office.

How we hire — four steps, roughly two weeks

  1. Apply — Send us your resume, GitHub, or portfolio. A short note about what you want to build matters more than a cover letter.
  2. Conversation — 30-minute call with a hiring lead. Two-way fit check — we tell you exactly what the role looks like, you tell us what you're hunting for.
  3. Working session — A real, paid mini-project drawn from work we actually do. No leetcode brainteasers — just the kind of problem you'd see week one.
  4. Decision — We move fast. Most candidates hear back within 7 business days of their final round, with a clear yes/no and feedback either way.

Open roles

All roles are remote-first within the U.S. unless noted. We hire continuously — apply even if a perfect title isn't listed.

  • Full-Stack Engineer (Enterprise / Government · Remote (U.S.)) — TypeScript, React, Node, Postgres. You enjoy owning a feature end-to-end and care about the details that make software feel premium. Apply
  • Solutions Architect — Government (Government · Remote (U.S.) · Clearance preferred) — Translate federal mission requirements into deployable AI architectures. FedRAMP/ATO experience and the ability to write a winning proposal. Apply
  • EdTech Product Lead (American Adaptive · Remote (U.S.)) — Drive product strategy for K-12 AI tooling. Background in district/school operations or instructional design strongly preferred. Apply
  • Client Partner (Enterprise · Remote (U.S.) · 25% travel) — Own a portfolio of executive relationships, scope new engagements, and keep delivery on the rails. Consultative seller, not a quota-chaser. Apply
